The neighborhood of Briar Forest sits due west of Downtown Houston, between I-10 to the north and Westpark Tollway to the south, along with Sam Houston Tollway running right through it. George Bush Park is located close to Briar Forest, just a few miles to the west.
Briar Forest has grown over the decades from farmland into a largely residential area, filled with a large number of homes combined with lofts and luxury apartments. Early in its development, Briar Forest was considered far from Houston proper. Today, however, it sits on the edge of what is rapidly becoming the center of the entire Houston metropolitan area, home to some 50,000 residents. Buffalo Bayou remains a significant natural feature in the area for outdoor exploration.
